From the days predating the American Revolution, Downingtown has
played a vital part in the development of not only Chester County
but also the commonwealth of Pennsylvania and the United States of
America. It was an important stop for farmers and tradesmen
transporting goods between Lancaster and Philadelphia. During the
Philadelphia campaign of the Revolution in 1777, the Continental
Congress approved the storage of material for George Washington's
army in Downingtown. Situated in the heart of one of William Penn's
three original counties of Pennsylvania, the area grew into an
important manufacturing community, known for its paper mills fueled
by the east branch of the Brandywine River, which flows through the
middle of the town.
Coatesville has always been a city of visionaries, from its
namesake, Moses Coates, a prosperous farmer and the area's first
postmaster, to Rebecca Lukens, the "Woman of Steel" and one of the
first female business executives in the United States. As the
Lukens Steel Company prospered along the banks of the scenic
Brandywine River, so did Coatesville, Chester County's only city.
Their rich history is told here through nearly two hundred historic
photographs.
This fascinating new history of the historical river that winds
through Chester County, Pennsylvania, and the upper regions of
Delaware and emptying into the Christina River in Wilmington,
Delaware, showcases more than two hundred of the best vintage
postcards available. The collected postcards show the countryside
as it appeared during the Revolutionary War Battle at Brandywine
through the time of nineteenth-century settlements in the region
and into the twentieth century.
For the 7th Edition of CALCULUS: EARLY TRANSCENDENTAL FUNCTIONS,
INTERNATIONAL METRIC EDITION, the companion website
LarsonCalculus.com offers free access to multiple tools and
resources to supplement your learning. Stepped-out solution videos
with instruction are available at CalcView.com for selected
exercises throughout the text. The website CalcChat.com presents
free solutions to odd-numbered exercises in the text. The site
currently has over 1 million hits per month, so the authors
analyzed these hits to see which exercise solutions you were
accessing most often. They revised and refined the exercise sets
based on this analysis. The result is the only calculus book on the
market that uses real data about its exercises to address your
needs.
Larson/Edwards' CALCULUS, 11E, INTERNATIONAL METRIC EDITION
expertly combines the printed textbook and technology to deliver
everything you need to master the material and pass the class.
Stepped-out solution videos with instruction are available at

"Models of Cooperation in U.S., Latin American and Caribbean
Libraries" considers library cooperation in the context of "The
Americas," a name given to the geographic, political and cultural
entities which constitute the American continents. One of the main
characteristics that identifies this region is the dichotomy
between the developed, mainly Anglophone North and the countries
located south of the US-Mexican border, known collectively as Latin
America. The Caribbean region, although it maintains its own
identity, is very often lumped into the Latin American context.
The collection of papers presented in this volume does not try
to discuss each and every one of the existing cooperative projects
in the American region. Many of the papers describe cooperative
experiences and projects in the Caribbean region, while others are
more theoretical in content and broader in geographic coverage. It
has been the intention of authors and editor alike, to compile a
practical document that can be used for information as well as for
discussion.
